Down Week.

Well, its everyones favorite week of the month!

Yesterday I skipped my evening bike ride. Today at tri, we did about a 50 min rev, and then we did some pylometrics for our run workout. We did skipping, some jumping on one leg, jumping on 2 legs, and some sprinting. It was a fun little change to do something different.

This weekend I will probably do about an hour or 1h15 run, and 1.5 hours on the bike.

Saturday they are showing the 70.3 World Championship on NBC, so I will try to catch that. It is also the California 70.3 that day, and some friends from tri club are doing it, so I will try to keep updated on that.

School should be less busy the next couple weeks. The tax program winds up tomorrow, so that will free up some time. Projects are wrapping up as well. Just in time for studying for finals!

Swim: 3

This was the 3rd solid week in a row. I did my longer run on Thurs, so only did 2 runs for the week. I also did a Bikram yoga class, for 1.5 hours on Sun that was crazy!

I am taking a down week this week. Hooray!

BIrthday Party Tonight!

Well, this week was crazy!

School was really busy, and I just havent felt like posting. My birthday was on Wed, so I am now officially olf! We are celebrating tonight with an Island/Tropical Theme Party.

I moved my long run this week to Thursday, so I wouldnt have to do a workout tomorrow. I did about 1 hour 35 min, and then went to tri practice for a bike. The bike ended up being really hard, so I was toast by the end.

Yesterday I had pilates and then swim practice.

Today I did 3 hours on the trainer, which went well. Except for one little thing. I ate a chocolate powergel and it was disgusting. Pretty much the grossest gel I have ever had. I will not be getting those ones again.

I then went for a walk to the farmers market, which was great as it is beautiful out. I also stopped off at lululemon, and picked up a cute yellow top and grey and yellow shorts. I figured I saved so much money ordering my bike shoes online, that I could get a new little lulu. Plus its my birthday!

So, I need to hold back on the shopping from now on. Although, I did notice in Triathlete Mag that fuel belt has some little items that I dont think I can live without.

I mean come on! Think how hawt it would look on my bike!

Well tonight should be festive. Tomorrow I have to get some homework done. Hopefully I will feel like posting a bit more in the next week. I will for sure post some party pics in the next few days.

Weekly Totals

For the week of Mar 12-18:

Swim: 3
Bike: 4.4
Run: 2.8
Total: 10.2 hours
Total with stretching/core/yoga: 13.9

I skipped weights this week, for the sake of time/i wasnt that into it. The running hours consist of some pretty slow paced runs, but I am fine with that. I need to just keep up with stretching, to hopefully kick my sore knee problem.

This is my last training week as a 21 year old!

New Shoes!

I took some pictures of my new bike shoes that I thought I would share:

Feet In Shoes

Look at that pasty white calf! Is winter over yet?

Shoes!

Ohhh Carbon Ohhhhhh

I havent used them yet, as I havent installed cleats. I was going to use my old cleats, but when I went to take them off my old shoes, there was some unfortunate sounding creaking noises. I was afraid of stripping the bolts. Plus, the cleats were worn, and partly covering the screws.

So I will have to go purchase some new cleats. I will get them to put them in, as they might be better at getting them on relatively close to my current setup. This wont happen until at least the end of the week, so I wont be trying the shoes out for awhile.

Yesterday was beautiful out. However, my leg was feeling sore, so I decided to bike instead of run, as that bothers it less. I did about 2 hours ( well actually only 1h50 ;).
Of course, that meant that the temperature would drop about 15 degrees overnight, so I would have to run in the cold. I love when it goes from +6 to -10!

My run actually went quite well. I took a real easy pace, and while my legs felt tight, there was not any real knee pain. Hooray. I wore my Mizuno Elixir shoes. I dont know if that made a difference, but I had been running mostly in my Nirvanas.

I will continue my stretching regimen, and I have yoga tomorrow, which will further help with my legs.
I am pretty sure I hear a distinct 'Boing' from my hamstrings whenever I move!

Busy and Lazy

Not such a good combo. I havent really been in the mood to post this week.

School is quite busy. I have a bunch of tests to study for, but havent been able to get much accomplished yet.

My left knee is still bugging me. I think the spin bikes at revving practice really bother it. I stretched for about an hour last night, which felt good. However, when I went to bed, my leg kinda hurt just laying there. I am going to continue with alot of stretching, as I think tight hips are the source of the problem.

Weekly Totals

For the week of Mar 5-11:

Swim: 3
Bike: 5.5
Run: 2.4
Total: 10.9
Total with stretching/core/weights/yoga/pilates: 14.8

Well, I had some sore left leg issues this week, but it didnt really slow me down too much. I just made my long run a little less long :) I was able to do a solid 3 hour long trainer ride, which I was pleased with.

Sooo Hungry!

Well, first some updates from the week.

Wed I did an easy bike, and that seemed to help loosen up my leg. I have been trying to stretch a little more to help things out. I just seem to have tightness right from my left hip, all down my leg.

Thurs at tri practice, we did about 55 min of revving, and then went for a run. I took it at a pretty easy pace, and ran for about 45 min.

Fri I did pilates, and then at swim practice we did a few different sets, including some sprinting, as there were only about 6 people there.

Fri the weather was beautiful! It was about +10 C, and really sunny. I went for a walk to the bike store, to try on some shoes I had ordered in. I liked them, but found I could order them online from R&A Cycles for about $60 less, even with the exchange. So I told the nice folks that I didnt think they would work, and then promptly came home and ordered them online. hehe.

Sat I went for my run. I was planning to do up to 1h30. I was feeling kinda tired after about an hour, and could feel my leg getting tight, so I cut it short. I ended up doing about 1h10 min. I thought it was wise to give my leg more of a rest. It was also really beautiful out yesterday. I started out with a jacket on, which I ended up tying around my waist. It was nice to just run in a long sleeve top.
I then went to the gym, and did about 40min of stretching and abs, and then lifted weights.

Today, I did 3 hours on the trainer. It went pretty well; my butt felt not too sore, but I did have to go pee 2 times in the 3 hours. I stopped to do this, and didnt practice race type peeing on the fly ; )

Anyways, I am now super hungry! As usual! I was feeling good earlier, and thought I would be ok. No such luck. At about 3:45 I had to have a snack. By 4:15 I started to make dinner. Now at 5:30, I am still really hungry.

My grocery bills are increasingly large. Sigh.

For the rest of the evening, I will be doing homework, and trying to keep from starving. I will also try to get in a good stretch later.

ITB: Nothing But Trouble

Well, it seems my ITB on my left leg is not happy. My knee feels fine, but the side of my left leg hurts. My legs felt a bit sore just walking about on Mon/Tues, but I thought it was just the regular soreness. At tri yesterday, I sat down, and noticed the side of my leg felt really tender to touch.
It was a bit painful when I started to bike, especially climbing. It seemed to get a bit better once practice went on. I decided to do an easy run on the treadmill. I did about 30min. It was not painful, but I could still feel something wasnt just right.

I iced it for a bit when I got home, and tried to stretch. I can still feel it on the left side; I feel a little tight, and sore just sitting. I swam this morning. It was ok, but I didnt do any kick sets, and just felt like my whole left side was tight.

I really want to do my bike tonight, but I think I will see how it feels when I start, and perhaps just do a 'Recovery' Spinervals, and not do the strength ones that I like to do on Wed. I think I will also try to massage out my leg tonight. I wont roll right on the side on my leg, but I think I will do in my hip and butt region, and see if that helps.

I am a little surprised/disappointed. I took an easier week last week, specifically so something like this wouldnt happen. I also cannot think of anything that really triggered it. I guess I have not been using my massage balls enough, and maybe that is it.

Sigh. Nothing but trouble.

Weekly Totals

For the week of Feb 26-Mar 4:

Swim: 2
Bike: 2.9
Run: 2.1
Total: 7
Total with weights/core/stretching/yoga/pilates: 10.3

Down Week. I needed it I think, as I had higher volume weeks. I felt fairly tired during the week, I think partly due to recovering, partly due to school.
I am making sure to watch my sleep as I build up again.

I hate the weather.

Yesterday, the high was +10 C.

Right now, -15C ; with windchill -23C.

What the hell!!

I was not feeling too hot yesterday, so I decided to bike on my trainer instead of run, even though it was so nice out. I thought it would still be reasonably warm today. I was horribly wrong. It is supposed to warm up a little bit, to more like -6, -12 with the wind.
We even had some windows and the patio door open yesterday. The streets were filled with puddles, and all the ice was melting off the buildings. I am sure everything is now a giant ice slick.
I am going to wait to head out, so I dont freeze my balls off.

Fri I had a really good swim practice. There were only 6 people there, so we spent some time analyzing each others strokes, and providing feedback. I need to work on rolling a bit more, which will hopefully allow me to generate more power.

When will it be spring??

Ciao Bella!

I wore my VeloBellas jersey to tri yesterday, and got so many compliments. I have only worn it there on other time, and got a few compliments that time as well. Both guys and girls comment on it.

Everyone loves the Bellas!

I like it too. So nice and bright. Oh la la.

March Madness

Well, this month is already shaping up to be busy...and we are only 1 day in.

Yesterday I had to attend a training session, for the tax program I volunteer for at school. We file students and other individuals taxes free of charge. I had to spend 3 hours listening to CRA tell me what to do. For the second year. This was at 5pm.

I decided not to swim in the morning, since that would mean I would be at school for 12 hours. Totally not appealing. I also decided I wasnt going to try to cram in any other workout, so I took the day off. I slept in for a bit before going to school for the day.

Today was fun, and homework filled. I went to tri practice, where we did about 45min spin, and then about a 35 or 40 min easy run. It is still quite cold here, so that was about enough time outside for me.

I have also been working on a funding application for our tri club, which is due tomorrow. I am not done, so I will finish tonight.
I have a midterm next week, and 2 group projects in the works, as well as the usual readings and class work. I am going to be a busy girl for the next few weeks with alot of school work, on top of the volunteering for the tax program.
